Try this: Make a rule for yourself surrounding food habits and challenge yourself to stick to it today – and while your at it you may as well keep it up for the rest of the week….year…your life.
Make your rules based on what you found out about yourself in the diet record.
Struggling to think of something? Here are a few I have tried (with varied degrees of success):
- If eating out at a restaurant, I will not have anything deep fried
- Make sure every meal I have contains a significant amount of protein
- When eating out, a meal based around fish or lean meat will be my priority
- Drink 2 glasses of water before or during every meal
- I will plan more meals before I go supermarket shopping
- When doing the grocery shopping I will not buy any biscuits – no matter what excuse I tell myself for buying them.
Why may this help you lose fat, gain muscle, or gain health? If this rule becomes a habit you will not have to go through the heartache and stress of making a decision on whether you deserve/need a certain type of food – you simply do/don’t have the food. I remember as a youngster feeling quite put out having to do my teeth before going to bed – now it is just a habit. This is exactly what we want to develop – good habits.
Make sure your rules are simple, and I would recommend three at most to start. Once those become habits get another three.
