I have discovered a brand new diet guaranteed to help you to lose weight: All you have to do is yodel between bites while eating.
Simple as that.
Take a bit of food, yodel for a few seconds, take another bite, yodel some more. Easy.
The diet has just a few more rules though: Firstly, you are not allowed to eat any of the foods you know are bad for you. Secondly the diet only works if you go for a little walk everyday – say at least 30 mins. You also have to minimise the amount of sugar, saturated and trans-fat you eat. You can eat lots of fresh vegetables and fruit, fresh lean meats and poultry are also encouraged. And one last thing: No alcohol. I think you know where I am going with this.
Next time your friend or family member tells you about the new diet that helped them lose 5 kilos ask yourself what other lifestyle and eating habits they kept common with their ‘old’ lifestyle.
The point is we all do things everyday that we know are not good for us – eating certain foods, not doing exercise etc. By simply making this small change we can get just as good results as any ‘diet’ out.
So, here are a few point for someone who wants to lose fat in a healthy, sustainable way:
- Cut out the foods you know are bad for you and replace them with vegetables and fruit, and lean fish.
- Do a little bit of exercise each day. A walk, run, swim, some push ups – anything, so long as you can sustain it.
- Take one hour every week to plan the meals for the week.
Go to the supermarket and buy only those foods. When I do some exercise or make a dietary change I try to not do anything I don’t believe I can keep up for the rest of my life. Unless you are happy yo-yoing your weight (which you shouldn’t be) I suggest you do the same.

I have been telling people this kind of stuff for a while. It is the same thing as the Eat Right For Your Blood Type hype. Certain blood types were told to avoid fish or meat or whatever, but they were all told to avoid processed food, hydrogenated oils, etc.
Another good ‘rule of thumb’ for getting a lot of nutrients through vegetables is to pick out different colored vegetables. Buy some orange, green, purple and red, and you will most likely get a good range of vitamins the natural way.
